Apricot Sunrise
There is something about a lone tree in a vast landscape of nothing that has always attracted me. Is it because I grew up as an only child and somehow deep inside I can relate to it? Or is the simplicity of it,uncluttered by distractions around it such that the focus is solely on it? While in Japan in winter we chose to visit an area known for its vast snowy scenes with trees, fences, vineyard stakes sprinkled here and there throughout farm fields – a perfect canvas on which to “paint.” This particular morning we were graced with the softest sunrise I have witnessed in a long time – gentle blue sky punctuated with apricot-colored clouds – a vision we can’t get easily in latitudes further south. The little base of the tree somehow reflected that color of the clouds!
In some ways it was a droopy, sad little tree but in other ways, it stood strong, all alone in the middle of a field deep in snow. Its resilience spoke to me as the branches of the upper part of the tree began toreach upward, not droop down as though it was reaching for the heavens. The soft sky just seemed to embrace it enveloping it in a soft glow of color. I just stood there for a bit staring at it as the colors in the sky gradually changed to the blue of day. No need to rush. Just absorb and enjoy the peace and calm.
Behind the Scene
To give you an idea of the morning chill, here is one of my "Photo Phriends" all bundles up! Noe the soft morning light above the trees!
A soft setting calls for a soft print on the wall. The apricots and blues blend so well together. With this light image, I chose a white/light gray frame.
