Captivated by a Sunset
After the Storm
It was late November 2018. Thunderstorms surrounded us while driving back from Raleigh with our young granddaughter. In an instant, the clouds broke, the sky turned brilliant colors. With luck I had my camera gear in the car! We made a beeline to Jordan Lake just in time to witness this amazing sight. Fog covering the lake. Pink, yellow, orange clouds radiating above and reflecting onto the water in total stillness where fog was not. In no time everything changed to orange and as the fog grew and covered the water, it too became orange. At first, I was frustrated to have someone in my shot but immediately realized he added human interest and scale as he too stood mesmerized. I have yet to witness another sunset like this anywhere. This image was juried into a private gallery show in Cary, NC soon thereafter. See a few more captures of this phenomenon below.
